About the Teacher

 

Tom Umile began to express his love of music by learning guitar and singing in his late teens. He studied guitar with Kim Milliner of Chadds Ford, PA, and voice with Leona Argust of West Chester, PA, and performed in several Chester County, PA based rock bands such as The Mild West Show, The Earthlings, and Free Range with his wife Diane on keyboard, and featuring many original songs. He also plays harmonica. Tom expanded his musical  landscape by teaching guitar to students at Upattinas School, Glenmoore, PA as well as at his home studio in West Brandywine, PA. After moving to Natrona Heights, PA in 2023, he has begun accepting students here at Brandywine Music. Tom endeavors to bring out the music that is inherent in everyone. His style is relaxed, patient and humorous. His approach is to develop the ear for music as well as solid technique and chord theory.

 

Lessons

 

Guitar lessons (ages 8 and up) include technique exercises, ear training activities, music theory, rhythm, chords, improvisation, and tuning and care of the instrument. Students are encouraged to learn a variety of musical genres, including their favorite songs and styles. Guitar lesson tuition: $110/month/30-minute lesson per week payable via subscription on Fons. Please see Tuition Fees page for more information on the way automatic payments work. All policies follow piano lesson policies (please see Studio Policies page).
